Banding scheduled for April 30th

Recommended Posts

Hi- I'm Gwenn. Banding is scheduled for April 30 in Los Angeles. Cedars Sinai Hospital. Dr. Kahlili.

I've been on and off this forum for months while doing the prep, etc. I find it very very big and a bit overwhelming. I'm hoping to find a group that's smaller to get to know. This is great for looking up something or asking a questions, but I'd like to see some of the same people hanging out and supporting each other through this.

Does that exist within the board? Any suggestions? I'll be back on Tuesday.

Thanks-Gwenn

Congratulations on your up-coming surgery. Alex has set up some chat rooms and there's also age specific groups you can post in. Look for the "new" next to things such as the e-magazine.

Hi Sharon. I'm on the 30th. My doctor doesn't put us on liquid before...but I'm on for 3 weeks after. I tried liquid for a day and had trouble- so I added Protein. Just keeping it low key. GOOD LUCK.

Welcome. I was banded last year on April 30. What a year it's been...never in a million years thought that I could say that I've lost over one hundred pounds. Good luck on your journey!!!

Hello Gwenn,

First of all, congrads on your upcoming band date. Just relax and take it a day at a time. Not only are there chat rooms. But there are forums that are age specific, band date specific. I found that talking to people that were banded around the same time really helped me. Please remember that everyone is different and everybodys body is different. so what works for one person, may or may not work for the next. Always check with your dr also. Dont let anyones story scare you, some people have a tendency for Drama and overexageration.

Best of Luck to you. let us know how you are doing.

Lois

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
