Surgery on the 24th of April in Texas....anyone else

Recommended Posts

I'm having surgery on the 24th of April in Dallas, my surgeon is Dr. Kim. I'm very excited and can't seem to wait for the 24th to get here. Anyone else out there same day same surgeon?

I'm 5 days into my preop diet...he requires 2 weeks of Optifast. I'm sailing through it with no problems so far. I really don't miss "Pepsi" yet which is all I drank and feared giving up the most. I have moved to Crystal light and have been enjoying the change. The only thing I have missed was having warm foods, I got some of the Soup and haven't looked back.

Seems like it should be harder......

You will have your share of challenges, so don't wish for them too soon! LOL I'm so glad to hear that you are adjusting well so far regarding your pre-op diet! Keep up the good work and do it for life!

BTW...you are being banded on the absolute BEST day of the year! And in the BEST place there is!

(I live in DFW, too...and my birthday is April 24th! LOL)

I have my surgery on the 25th here in Dallas, but my doc is Dr Davidson...

I'm getting excited and nervous both. My hubby had his done on March 14, so I'm wanting to catch up to him, lol! (his first fill is on the day of my surgery)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
