Confessions of a Cheesaholic

Recommended Posts

Yesterday was my 6th day post op, and second full liquid day. I am allow to eat "full liquids" for 5 weeks, including grits, oatmeal, applesauce, pudding etc. I am only supposed to eat three 2 oz "meals" a day along with Protein Drinks. And I did that yesterday, along with stopping to sprinkle a little bit of parmesean cheese in my hand almost every damn time I passed the fridge. All adding up to probably a half cup of cheese throughout the day!! I also got SF Kool-Aid happy and drank over a liter of that. Old habits die hard!! In all I comsumed maybe 600-700 cals for the whole day, but the volume was such that I felt bloated and full. And it certainly exceeded my 6 oz daily allowable intake. I am so scared I am going to damage the band. I didn't get sick, and it didn't hurt, I just felt weird afterwards. I suck!! :smile2: Who overeats on the 6th day after surgery?? I threw the parm cheese away first thing this morning, but what if I messed something up by eating to much to soon??

I think this a learning process. But you should always respect what you have inside you now. I try and think about the craziness that lead me to where I am today. I am 13 days pst op and my hunger has returned somewhat. I even put a spoon of Peanut Butter in my evening shake. THAT made me feel like I was bad. I just get so sick of the same flavors all the time. I also remember, I got this band to help me LIVE and Be HEALTHY. Not to see HOW MUCH I can loose. I want to eat with others or myself and be satisfied with a little of what we are having. What a GREAT feeling to know we wont have to eat those huge portions. It already gives me a little sence of peace knowing thats whats ahead. You just need to find that in yourself, not in your food.< /p>

You probably didn't mess anything up, but you could.

Everytime you feel like going to the fridge to snack, stop yourself and ask yourself what you are really feeling (bored, stress, etc.) and then focus something else. It's tough to break old habits!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
