The Great Flood

Recommended Posts

While I was away in the USA I listened to a radio talk show about why we no longer live for as much as 950 years. The guest on the show was a fundamentalist Christian and had written a book that explained that the great flood had killed all of the fruits and vegetables causing our diets to be changed drastically. This change dropped our life expectancy from 900 plus years to less than 100. He maintained that by changing our diets by including more fruits and vegetables we would once again live for as long as Adam.

Does this strike anyone other than me as insane??

PS. For all those who wished me a hurried return while I was away Golfing thank you for your kindness. It was a great trip and I was voted "most loved participant" by the group.

Actually this is the least crazy story I heard from fundamentalist christians.

And welcome back! Was getting stuffy in here when you left.

There're kooks in every religion. Even mine. As a Christian, I think people go awry when they inject their own personal opinions into theology. When I was reading the Bible, I didn't see any description of Noah's menu choices post-flood.

What a stupid radio talk-show host!! Now about cavemen riding the dinosaurs.....that's totally feasable. :huh2:

Actually, the caveman riding a dinasour is completely out of the question, the timelines don't work, makes for a great sitcom however.

Ooops. Trying for sarcasm, failing miserably. I read about some nutjob somewhere that claims that dinos and men walked the Earth together. This was because he somehow had worked out, in his own mind, what era in time the Bible was written in. Keep in mind I'm a Christian. A baptist, at that. I don't see why religion can't co-exist with science, unlike Dino-man.

Wasn't it Linus the Great who once said "I never talk about three things: religion, politics and the Great Pumpkin"!

Quote: I had an otherwise perfectly rational friend, who was convinced the entire dinosaur bones/earth is older than 8000 years thing was flat-out evidence of the existence of and direct work of Satan. And she was serious.

Jack - I had a friend who was/is steadfast in her opinion that an individual with an extremely high IQ is proof of that aliens co-exist with us. She is very religious, and believes that we were the 'dry run' for other creations; aliens are God's 'new and improved' creation I guess.

Snuffy, as a Christian, I must point out that just because you've never seen Linus or the Great pumpkin, does not mean that they don't exist. Heehee. :rolleyes2:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
