Hey everyone :purplebananna:

I've currently been on a liquid diet for 11 days (Surgery on Friday!) and I have some questions. The liquid diet hasn't been too difficult for me.. but the last couple of days it seems to be wearing me out. I know that this liquid thing (before and after the band) is the hardest part of the process.. and I can understand that. I guess I'm just getting a little "blah" about it all. Everything is so sweet. The Protein Drink is sweet, Jello is sweet, popsicles are sweet... and I hate broth. Is there ANYTHING that I can have that isn't so sweet?

I know I just need to get through the next two and half to three weeks.. but goodness, it's going to be long. I'm not even craving bad food at all. What I wouldn't give to have some vegies, fruit.. or anything remotely close to solid! Oh well..

Hope everyone is doing well :biggrin2:

Hi!

I am just starting the whole liquid thing too. I am about 1 1/2 months from surgery, but the nutritionist has me doing semi-liquid diet now to lose the pre-op weight and also get used to it. I am on two shakes per day. I have one meal and a few Snacks (one of which is broth). Just this much is really hard. I am hoping that once I start losing weight I will be more motivated.

Good luck with your surgery!! You are so close. To me, it feels like it will never get here! :purplebananna:

Hi there,

I occasionally slipped in a tiny can of V8 juice to stave off the too-sweet blahs on my liquid diet. The salty taste was such a relief, and it kept me on track when I was ready to hunt down a cheeseburger or something.

OMG...yes I only had one day pre op liquid diet so that wasn't a problem..now I have 11 days post op diet of full liquids. I bought all kinds of drinks and now I to am finding that they are way to sweet. Prior to this i could drink that stuff without any problem. Thank God for Tomato Soup because that is what i'm living on

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
