OOOO...my aching muscles!

Recommended Posts

So, I have been exercising 5-6 days a week (cardio/strength mix) for the last 5 months. I have definitely gotten in better shape since surgery. I started a weights class last week and the day after could hardly move-omg the pain:eek:-I literally had to fall back to sit down! I pushed through it and went to class again and it actually helped to relieve some of the soreness. My question is: What can I do to mitigate the soreness on the day after? What do you do?

Thanks!

I totally hear ya on that one. I started a small group personal training session this past week and good god was i in pain. I felt like a MAC truck hit me. Everytime I would sit or go up stairs or move in any way I was in horrid pain, my husband thought I was dieing. I go back tommorow night for a second round of torture, but I will melt the pounds away. I have been told that drinking plenty of Water will flush the lactic acid out of your muscles and that walking will help too, I also too hot baths and try some epson salt in your bath, its suppose to help with muscle pain. Good luck

You can also make sure you stretch before and/or after working out. It doesn't seem important but is really is. This helps me tremendously.

try a hot bath, soak and enjoy, it will feel better the next day. Keep at it, your doing great. I won't even say what I call my trainer, he's so mean. but its worth it in the end.

good luck,

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
