A few possibilities: It could be the result of a fungus, symptoms of your insulin being out of whack, results of friction...

Sounds like your best bet would be to see a doctor/dermatologist, and in the meantime perhaps try the suggestion for the friction caused discoloration?

A discussion thread where some people received some sort of diagnosis:

Q: I have fairly brown skin. I was a athlete in my younger days. Due to jogging and exercises there was rubbing of the skin and hence the inner thighs have blackened a bit. I would want to know if there is any way that i can make my skin lighter there. Are there any home remedies.. please suggest.. Thanks..

Diva (Mumbai, India)

A: First, target losing weight around the thighs so they don't rub against each other, or they will get dark again. Lemon is a natural bleach, so you can apply it to your inner thighs while bathing, and wash it off in ten minutes. Do this everyday. Don't wear polyester fabrics around that area. In the summer, try and stick to linen trousers or cotton salwar kameezes. Also, apply Shower to Shower powder to your inner thighs.

Question: I have dark discolouration in underarms and inner thighs, although I keep it very clear, washing with soap twice a day. Can I apply anything to lighten the dark skin?

Ans: It is very difficult to get back the colour in the inner thighs and under arms. Try applying anti fungal cream after consulting a dermatologist.

I would like to know what can improve my complexion. I use Green leaf's Aloe vera gel which looks good on my skin. I would like to know how to remove tanned skin and blackness around inner thighs. Thanks

Answer

  • Wash your face twice a day with any transparent face wash with micro granules to wash away the excess oil and maintain the pH balance of your skin.
  • Shiseido Blemish Targeting gel This clears quick absorbing gel minimises the appearance of blemishes as it purifies and refreshes skin. It contains purifying agents proven to keep the skin clean.
  • Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Defining Skin Brightener This intensive multi benefit lotion contains optical diffuses which immediately blur imperfections and revive radiance .With continued use smoothens and clarity are restored for brighter , healthier looking skin.
  • Home remedy: oatmeal magic: 1 tsp oatmeal powder 1 tsp sandalwood paste 1 tsp buttermilk Mix and apply twice daily on dark spots .
  • Eat a diet rich in vegetables, yoghurt, fruits & drink plenty of Water.

Your skin color is determined by your genes. But you can definitely prevent your skin from the harmful effects of the sun. Besides causing pigmentation which is due to the natural process of melanin synthesis within the skin . The ultra-violet rays in the sun cause photo-aging and skin cancer in the extreme. To remove a tan and brighten dull skin-Mix one tablespoon oatmeal and yoghurt and apply. Wash with tap Water. Use of sunscreen with Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 30 is absolutely vital in a tropical country like India.

Dark skin around inner thighs is usually caused due to constant friction. You could use all the remedies which you use on your face.

Rockbaby

Be very careful about using any treatments on this area of your body. The discoloration is from friction and heat. If you mess with that area you could cause many issues such as yeast overgrowth, excessive dry skin, or uncontrollable itching. Once you lose the weight the area of contract will lessen simply due to the decreased size of your thighs. If you touch that area you will notice how soft it is. It is just like rocks that get worn by a river.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
