I have read a lot but the one thing that i can't find is could some one tell me where to start and list the people you have to see to get things done and maybe a time table?

1.nutritionist?

2.shrink?

3.doctor?

5 etc. etc.

and maybe a time table it might take?

I attended a local seminar sponsored by a baritric surgeon. They started me on the path and made recommendations to the nutritionist, pysch eval, etc.

Time line can depend on your ins. and what they require, your surgeons availability, as well as your ability to make appts when they are available instead of needing a late afternoon or Sat appt. etc.

If your ins requires a six month supervised diet plan first, it will take longer, obviously.

If you are self pay, things can usually go a little quicker.

Like everyone else said, it probably depends on your insurance company. If you are paying cash, I hear it can be quicker. My "time table" is listed below. My insurance company approved me in days. It took my a couple of weeks to get in to see the nutritionist and psychotherapist because of their schedule. Go to a free seminar. They can get you going. Good luck!

Depends on your situation. Are you looking to self pay or try to have the insurance to pay for it?

If the insurance is going to pay, whats your BMI?

If you meet all the criteria I would go to your regular doctor and have him advise you.

If your self pay I would contct a baratrics center near you.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
