I am new and very excited

Recommended Posts

Hi. My name is Paula and I was "banded" 10 days ago on March 4th. I am excited about the future and becoming a healthy, slimmer person.

For me, the first several days were rough, but on day 8 I woke up finally feeling better. My daughter Spencer, who is 18, had the procedure back on Nov. 19, 2007, and has lost over 50 pounds. She had a quicker recovery than I did, but I guess I've got to admit that at 46 years old you may not recover as quickly as an 18 year old.

I am so looking forward to reading up on a lot of you and am anxious to share more about me.

Have a great day.

lol.... Ohhh to be 18 again? Congratulations on getting banded. Try not to compare your journey with hers too much.... she is so young. If I could only have done this when I was 18 my life would have been diff. Good luck and great health to you.-Both of you-. Kimberly

I am just considering the lab band since my employer BCBSGa does cover it but I am a little scared. I will be 50 in August and I weight 294 and am only 5'4". It is affecting my health so much. I was told that Peachtree Bariactrics is a good place to go. Any words of wisdom. lab band vs gastric bypass. I am so encouraged about you weight loss. Keep up the GREATwork...

God Bless You

There are a lot of previous threads on the forum about reasons people choose lapband vs GBP. Just do a little scrolling through the threads.

Thanks to all the ones who gave me a welcome.

I went back to the doctor yesterday for my first checkup, exactly 14 days after the surgery. I had alread lost 10 pounds!!!

I began eating pureed last night and it was certainly more filling than the liquids. Things are good.

Hi everyone who has responded to this thread. I don't get to get back here as often as I had intended when I first joined this site.

Regardless, it's now Aug. 22nd and I am 58 pounds lighter than on March 4th when I had my surgery. I feel wonderful. I have only had 1 adjustment, but will probably be having one sometime in September. I still praise God for this wonderful tool that He blessed me with. I take every chance to share with people who want to know about the procedure and tell them I would do it again tomorrow. I started at 301 pounds and look forward to getting down below 200.

I wish everyone the best on their journey in LapBand land. I'll try to check back in sometime. God bless you all.

Paula

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?
