I'm approved with BCBS of AL

Recommended Posts

I called the surgeons office last week and found out that I have been approved!! As some of you may know, I found out the first of Feb. (which was the last month of my 6 month diet) that I was pregnant. The entire month of Feb was spent in and out of my OB's office due to complications. Yesterday, I had my HCG tested for the millionth time and it is going down... which means I miscarried. It never got over 300 so it shouldn't take long for it to be back to normal non pregnant numbers and I can then proceed with the lapband. I'd much rather still be pregnant right now but God has given me lots of peace in KNOWING that I can get pregnant.. after being told for 5 yrs that I can't without treatment. So I'm calling the surgeons office again tomorrow to get it scheduled. I still have to go through an all day nutrition class required by the surgeon so it'll probably be a while before the actual surgery but i'm hoping for March.

as far as the 6 month diet... i did stick to it to EXACTLY as directed. There was only one month I was concerned about and it was because I saw the nutritionist about 10 days before I should ( because she was going to be out on vacation the rest of the month) Obviously, that wasn't a problem. I only lost 13 pounds during that 6 months. I didn't focus on it at all in Feb. due to the pregnancy. I look forward to getting the surgery done, getting involved with a support group, getting serious about exercise, getting some weight off and getting pregnant again!!!!

Wonderful news about the Approval, Grace!!! :smile2: Very sorry to hear of your loss..God has blessed you with the approval news to help you move on (although you never forget, I don't). I'm thinking it is going to be so much easier for you to get pregnant, though, after you start losing weight!!

We can't wait to hear your date!!

Thanks!!

Date is set... April 24th. Seems like forever away.. but they are booked up until April and we are planning a weekend getaway that month also and I didn't want to be away and on liquids during vacation. I'm excited! Sure hope I don't gain back what little I lost before then. lol

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
