Okay, gotta question,.....can we take meds without crushing them up? I am 4 weeks post op and can eat anything, but was wondering if I really need to crush my meds since they are little pills anyway...Does anyone know the answer to this? I hate the taste of the meds, its just horrible.

I take all of my pills whole and have never crushed them up. I did switch to chewable vitamins because I couldn't even begin to imagine swallowing something the size of a normal Vitamin whole.

I do not crush my pills. I even take my normal Vitamins, but I cut them in half, using a pill splitter.

My doctor looked at mine and told me to split some in half and some in quarters (you can get a pill splitter at any drug store), Didn't say to crush any of them, I also switched to a chewable Vitamin.< /p>

Susan, I didn't use to have problems with my Vitamins but now I do. Which kind do you get that are chewable. A lot of people are doing Flinstones chewables. I want a good adult Vitamin with everything possible in it.

Denise, my surgeon recommended Centrum Chewables and they are orange flavored. Not exactly my idea of a delicious snack but tolerable and they cause no stomach upset for me which is a miracle for a Vitamin.< /p>

my doctor said any meds that are smaller than an m&m can be swallowed whole. chewable vitamins can be taken all at once but pill form should be split and the pieces taken about an hour apart. You have minimal absorption now, so you body will expel a lot of the need Vitamin if you take to much at once.

Bandsters are not supposed to have an absorption problem. We still have all our parts, and Vitamins just go into our stomach the same as they always did.

The problem I have is you aren't supposed to take any medicine within 2 hours of taking Fiber. Fiber can make you not absorb your medicine. I like to dump some on my Cereal in the morning. Sometimes I will mix some citrucil in my Protein shakes too. I have to take medicines and supplements throughout the day now instead of all in the morning like I used to.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
