I have contacted my insurance and seen my primary doctor who was more than happy to write me a letter for approval with my insurance UHC. So far, so good just checking things off the list, blood work and appointment with the surgeon is next. But each day I ask myself...why can't I just do this on my own and I am very fearful about having complications. And I know it is kind of shallow of me but the thought of never having a soda again makes me sad. Are most of you out there happy you had the surgery done?

Am I happy - 1000 times yes!!! I feel 10 yrs younger - I weigh 75 lbs less than 7 months ago. I can shop in regular stores - bye bye Plus Size shopping. I will have a soda every now and then - my doc does not forbid them - I just let them get flat and sip slowing - the carbonation doesn't go down well - but I have never been a big soda drinker anyway.

What are the complications of being obese??? Being obese is going to kill you

Yep you are giving up your old ways of eating and that can be sad - but eating is killing you - New Lifetime Lifestyle eating habits & exercise is going to let you have a longer - healthier and more productive life - the band is the tool to help you acheive these goals - it's not the cure to our food issues but an excellent tool to control your portion size.

Good Luck to you on your journey..

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
