Food Diary

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know where on line that I can get a food diary, maybe a calorie/protein counter? I talked to my drs office yesterday and they said maybe I wasn't getting enough Protein and to keep a log for about 2wks. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! I joined this board so that I could make friends/supporters....and the few that I have met so far are really great. Thanks.

Fitday.com - sparkspeople.com - CalorieKing.com - Read lables - they tell you how much protien - 1 oz meat = 7 grms of Protein - I guess I am really lucky my Doc has a nutritionist in his office - gave me a calorie book and diary... I am 7 months out and I keep a food diary still - I count calories and protein grams.

In the six months pre-op doing a food Log for the nutritionist, I used the website Nutrition facts, calories in food, labels, nutritional information and analysis – NutritionData.com .

I found it to be great--I just put in my food and it gave me a nutrition label for each! It also has areas in the site for personalization. Just a great site to use...:)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
