Countdown to band replacement!

Recommended Posts

The countdown for my band replacement begins tomorrow! I'm only a week away from getting the band replaced, after its recent slippage. I've had this band for 5 years, and I can't imagine living without it. I'm actually excited about starting the liquid diet tomorrow! Yay!

:thumbup:Good attitude! I haven't had mine a year yet, but, I too cannot think about life without it . . . . it has changed my life so much for the better, 70lbs gone and now the energy I have, and the confidence that I will get the rest off and keep it off. Good luck to you and a speedy recovery.

Hi Drkel,

Do you have any idea why you had a slippage after 5 yrs. with that band? what did you feel when the slippge started/happened?

I've had mine for 3yrs. and even though I'm still far from reaching my goal it never gave any problems (clockage, slippage, erosion, etc). It's quite scaring to think that something like that can happen even when you're an «experienced» bandster.

best of luck to you and your new band!

Hi,

I was banded September 05 without any problems... In the first 9 months I lost 50 lbs then my band slipped. 1/24/07 my slip was surgically fixed (after a couple of months of unfills).... Since Jan. 07 I have not had a lot of success with my band... I have had many fills and still don feel much restriction... Last month I went in for a fill and the nurse took out Fluid saying that I was too tight.... I am now stuck trying to figure out what to do next... I don't feel any restriction and have no problem eating.... I will be going into the Dr. next week so he can check my band under Fluro.... Has anyone had their band replaced with a larger band? If so, did that work?

I'm really frustrated... (I'm a self-payer Insurance didn't cover WLS)

Sincerely,

Banded905

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
