I had surgery Monday (Feb 18). It's Thursday and I'm still sore, I think where the port is. I was led to believe (by my doctor) that I would be back to work within a couple of days. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! But, every day is better!!! D.

I was very sore for about 3 days but I was also only on Tylenol. Any kind of lifting or sitting for long times bothered my port incision so my suggestion is that if you have to sit or are moving around a lot wear something with a very wide elastic waist so it doesn't rub against your incisions. I'm a month post op and am perfectly fine with the exception of a little soreness at my port. Also, your belly might be swollen for a while. Maybe I was different, but the gas I had from day 2-6 was so nasty that I didn't want to be in public.... Just something to consider, you don't know what kinds of 'reactions' you might have... Good Luck!!!!!!

It is nearly 1am Friday Aug. 7th. I am scheduled to do the lapband at around 1PM today. I will go the next hour or 2 reading and watching, things on this procedure without anything to eat or drink lol. I am not sure what i am getting myself into as far as when i will return to work. I scheduled myself till Wednesday and return to work Thursday, I hope that is enough time. I will keep you posted on how everything goes.

I had the surgery on a Monday. I used no pain meds at all, and I was ready for work by Friday. (I'm a teacher, and Friday was a snow day, so I got a nice long weekend instead!)

Everyone's recovery experience may be different. I say expect the worst, so that you will be pleasantly surprised! Either way, I'm sure you thought this through and are just naturally nervous. I wish you a speedy recovery and a wonderful new life!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
