Band Date March 20th... Abit Scared

Recommended Posts

:bored:Hi everyone!

I wrote here a LONG while ago. I'm in baltimore maryland, and my doctor is Schweitzer. There was sooo much hassle with insurance and figuring out what I needed (UnitedHealthcare), one person said one thing, another said another...etc.

But once I was approved I recieved a call from the office and the date is March 20th... its Spring break for me, so I'll have 11 days to recover before school. Hoping that's enough.

I'm seeing a lot of people getting the band taking out on here. Does anyone have any good news for the people that need to loose 200 lbs?

I am soo nervous about everything but I know this is what I need and I just want to get to a weight where I can exercise along with it again!

I needed to lose about 200 lbs. So far I have lost about 160 and hope to lose about 50 more. Down from a size 32 or larger, to 18 on average. 2 years out and still have my band, no issues that I know of. Is that good news?

Hi - My name is Ginny and I am having my surgery Marxh 20th also. I also have about 200 pounds to loose and I am a combination of excited and nervous.... It is good to know there are so many people in the same situation as me - It makes me feel less nervous

I got my band a week ago today. The surgery went great, and the recovery has been fairly smooth. I have to admit that I am pretty hungry though.

I have about 260 to lose.

Best,

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
