Not sure I have much to suggest as far as making the liquid taste good!!! There is not much to say about it!!! I used Zero Carb Isopure for Protein during the clear liquid stage, and it helped with the fatigue I was feeling. As for taste---if you put it up against my tea, or my former Dr. Pepper, no I would not have chosen it, but...it did the job, and I wanted the band to be a success!

I bought it at GNC...I would drink half the bottle in the morning and half in the afternoon, and in between I had Water, tea, broth, some juices....

My Dr. was much stricter---I had 2 weeks of Clear Liquids, followed by 2 more weeks of full liquids, where I could have pureed cream Soups, anything that would fit through a straw. Then 2 more weeks of mushies, and then I could begin adding regular foods.

I used a lot of the Da Vinci syrups for making Protein Shakes the first couple of months. That way I could vary the flavor simply...as they make tons of flavors in sugar free.

How lucky are you to have your surgeon as a best friend! You will always be able to get any questions answered!!! Although I have never had issue with that, mine gave me a cell # and I have always been able to reach him---never had much need. But what an awesome support your friend will be!

Hang out, read around, you will find lots of ideas of food as you progress, and always will find someone in the same time range as you to share info with.

Good Luck on Monday, check in and let us know how it all went!!!

Glad to have you at LBT--welcome!!

Kat

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
