I was just banded on 4/22/08 and I WISH I could burp. I get maybe 2 - 4 good burps a day. But I know I would feel better if I just burped a little more. So, while you all have your slime and whatever....... I will still be waiting for plain old air !!! LOL

I was at my son's enjoying an afternoon at the pool with the grandkids. I was 4 month's post op and thought I could chew a small bite of hotdog. Wronggggggggg!!!! I started gagging and just could not get comfy, so I decided to drive home. I only live a mile from the son's family so I did not put on my seat belt as I was "sliming" in a glass and just did not have the desire to be strapped in. Well, low and behold, the nice police man spotted me and pulled me over. I rolled the window down and said, Officer, do you know anything about lap bands? He said, No!! I said, well, I am throwing up profusely and proceeded to show him my "slime" glass!! He was not impressed and proceeded to write a non seat belt violation and as he handed me the ticket, I "slimed" in my glass and said, "Hope you don't have to throw up any time soon"!!!:lol::party::party:

My family was driving home (from walking the 5K Race for the Cure - which was a victory itself). My mother in law was in the car sitting in the backseat. I'd eaten a few bites of my son's apple once we got back to the car. We're stuck in traffic trying to get out of downtown, and the apple skin got stuck. I was hoping it would go down, but then I started sliming - and I knew it was coming back up. I grab a plastic bag and tell my hubby (who is driving) to get ready to explain the whole story to his mother in a hurry. Luckily she was talking with the kids and I did it quickly - so I don't think she saw it.

I did have a rough week after my second fill - but once I got used to chewing better and what things I should avoid - it got much better. I haven't PB'd for a long time.

If newbies are reading, don't be scared - you can easily avoid PB'ing if you follow your doctor's rules. The chewing thing - they really, really mean that.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
