I'm officially in bandster hell. Help!

Recommended Posts

I have found that I really need to measure my food. This week I have been really hungry. I am putting my dinner on a small plate and using a small fork to eat more slowly and feel like it is more food.

I should have had my first fill on Monday, but had to move the appt to 2/26. I am a little nervous about how I will feel afterward, but know that I need the fill.

How has your weight loss been? I was stuck since the beginning of Feb (when I started on solids), but finally appear to be moving again - although much slower than last month.

Keep your measuring cup close. You can stick with this!

I was just banded on the 8th and I was already getting discouraged. It is nice to know that this will pass. I have only lost weight due to the liquied diet. As I add things to my diet I have stopped los:smile2:ing.

I called my docs office yesterday and tried to move my fill up. They won't don't do the first series of fills when you need them. They do it monthly. So needless to say, I'm starving.

Sorry to hear about your fall Chrisann.:) I haven't read your post yet. Hope you are feeling better. Be careful taking that Ibuprofen though. I don't have to worry about taking NSAIDs, I'm allergic, so I haven't taken them for years anyways.

I feel ya I have had the hardest time sticking to my diet even though the band is there I still want to eat one day I thought that I had busted it cause I stopped feeling restriction but it came back very fast and I felt as if I was going to burst.

I go for my 2nd fill on Monday and again I'm holding on till then. I had my first fill two weeks ago but it didn't do much. I think the 2nd fill should. I can't wait to feel almost like i did when i first got banded. I would eat and be full for hours.

With the 5cc's I am super tight in the morning and much less restrictive at night. I panicked and called the doc's office. I was called back today, and was told this is normal. So, I am feeling more comfortable knowing that.

Its my time of the month now, and that seems to affect the band too. Its been tight all day. That was uncomfortable, but food does go down, just small amounts and chewed very well. I think its the combination of restriction, bloating, and cramps.

I had the very same experience. I was banded on the 8th and find it very hard to add food. I feel safe on the liquids, but am still pretty scared of real food. I don't want to gain and I don't want to hurt my band....I know it takes time, but when is this going to get better?

Holy h-e-double hockey sticks... I am going crazy. Not so much because I'm starving to death because I have no restriction and therefore I'm not eating the best I should. I'm trying to get back on track! I gained 4 lbs this past week! EEEEK.

Someone please refresh my memory - 4oz of meat? Time to start measuring my foods again.

ARGH.

Ang,

Sorry you're gettin down. This too shall pass, just climb back on the horse! Am I remembering correctly that you haven't had a fill yet? It should get a little better after you have a fill. Do you have a J&J band or a Lap-Band?? The reason I ask is because I have the J&J band and I didn't get any restriction from my first fill. I want to give you hope, but not false hope, make sense?

I've been really down for the past week. I haven't lost any weight the past 2 weeks and I'm so afraid that when I go back for my second fill I will not have lost anything. I finally got my a$$ in gear a the first of the week and dusted my treadmill off. Now I haven't been able to workout all week due to tooth problems (culminated into a root canal yesterday). I actually can't wait to get back on the treadmill.

This is going to be hard for us, but we can do it together!! I'm here for you whenever!!

Hang in...3 oz meat. Only 2 oz tuna or salmon.

Try not to get to discouraged. It seems like it is hard for all of us on food. Got to give the body time to adjust.

I go for my first fill today and I'm actually looking forward to it!

Keep thinking next week will be better!

You're right, I haven't had my first fill yet- not until March 10. I actually have a MIDBand (Hello and welcome to the MIDBAND™ website). I know that the first fill may not do much but I'm trying to be optimistically hopeful! I hope that your 2nd fill gets you to the restriction that you need and I hope your tooth problems go away that does not sound like fun at all.

It's hard not to be discouraged, I know it's not going to be like a "miracle device" that when implanted it automatically makes me start losing 10lbs a week.. hehe, how nice would that be? I just wanna get the ball rolling, I did so good with my post-op diet weightloss and now here I am in regular food and gained 4 lbs!! Argh!

Bandster hell sounds about right. I will be 6 wks post op tomorrow and I am having a tough time. I did ok first few wks but then couldn't have a fill due to redness at port site. Finally last thurs I got my first fill but I don't have any restriction. I have to wait until next week for a fill but in the meantime the monster is back - has been for 3 wks. I can't control it any longer and I find myself eating more and more. I can't wait for next weeks fill, all I can do is be as strong as I can, exercise as much as I can, and pray for time to pass quickly:)

I'll be 5 weeks post op tomorrow and I get my first fill next Friday, 15th. Meanwhile, my stomach now growls 2 hours after eating and then I have to listen to it complain until time for my next meal. I don't know how long I can hold out like this before I cave and eat more than my three 4oz meals. :)

Any suggestions/tips on how to endure?

Why wait for the next meal? Have a small snack.< /p>

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
