Anyone have small children at the time of surgery?

Recommended Posts

Hello - I'm new here and looking for advice. I just got approved and have a surgery date for March 7th. I have a 9 month old and I am a stay at home mom. How long before I can carry him? Can I do it right away? He weighs about 20 lbs (give or take). Anyone else have this situation? What did you do?

My surgeon approved me to lift my 23 pound baby. He's almost 12 months old. I'll try to get help as much as I can, but if I need to lift him I will. You'll have to check with your own surgeon to find out his or her specific restrictions. Good luck.

I have a 6 month old baby and he was 5 months old & 16 pounds at the time of my surgery. I was told definitely do NOT lift him by bending over for the first 48 hours. I could lift him during that time if someone brought him to me without me having to strain my abdominal muscles. I had help for those first 48 hours. After that, I was cleared to lift him as needed, as long as it didn't hurt me.

I was fine with him after about 72 hours...I just made sure if I was alone, that I was very careful. If someone was with me, I always had them do lifting for me so I wasn't doing any more than I absolutely had to.

I was told not to lift my 3 yr old for the first 3 weeks. He's small and 25 pounds, but wasn't allowed to lift him into his carseat and we have a large SUV. So the little guy had to climb in and out.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
