I am in Al. too...I am just now thinking about surgery and wondering what all you have yo go thru to get approved? I have not been to Doctor yet. I have no recent weight loss efforts documented by a doctor.

Andy: Who is doing your surgery? I had mine 3/29/07 and have lost 111 pounds. Dr. Adams was my surgeon. He is not doing the surgery any more as of the end of the past year.

Hi, my name is Lori. I am also looking into the lapband. I went to the seminar but am waiting for the surgeon to contact me for an appointment (they told us - do not call, we will call you). In the meantime, I began making the other appointments. The nutritionist is next week.

Thank you. I've been reading everyone's stories on the web-site. I'm just waiting for the surgeons office to contact me for an appointment. I'm nervous when I read about the problems people have been having. How has it been for you?

My surgeon is Dr. Stephen Britt. He is part of the Marshall Surgical Associates. He has surgery rights at Crestwood (Huntsville), Madison Outpatient Surgery Center (Madison), Marshall Medical North (Guntersville), and Marshall Medical South (Boaz). I will be having my surgery in Guntersville.

Hey everyone, live in Texas now but from Alabama (family from Hartselle, Courtland, Decatur) Hope you don't mind if I lurk and see some of the feedback for the Doctor's in Alabama.

Hey Sugar,

I am from Dothan and had my surgery 10/29/07 and to date (3 months) I have lost 38 pounds. Getting over my surgery was easier than the way I felt at my current weight, 296.0. Dr Schmitt at St. Vincents in B-Ham did mine. They have a wonderful program.

Hi! I recently had surgery on Monday, January 28th. Dr. Schmitt performed my surgery at St Vincent's East in Birmingham, AL. I feel like I am recovering well. No appetite. Feeling full.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
