No More MEDS!!!

Recommended Posts

I went to my PCP yesterday to ask about all the medicines I am currently taking. He told me to quit one all together, stop taking one after the bottle was done and monitor my blood pressure so I can possibly get off that too! That was the best news EVER. I despise taking prescription medication so I am super excited. I also found out that I have lost 16lbs in a week and a half. INSANITY. I am so happy I made the decision to be banded and have gotten a second chance at LIFE! Have a great day!!!

Wow, congrats. You are having a great start. Keep up the good work. I did 17lbs the first 2 weeks but 2lbs a week since then which is normal. I had my first fill yesterday with Dr Snow.

I am so happy for you! My date is in 17 days and I am nervious but excited at the same time. If I can get off all the meds I take it will be a true blessing along with the weight loss.

THUNDER WHEELS - What is the fill process with Dr. Snow? I was originally going through AIGB but I think I would rather go to his office!

LKGRUBB- I was very nervous up until the day of surgery and then just calm because I knew I was making a good decision.

ROAD KING - Good luck! I am glad I was approved and scheduled within a week or I would have driven myself crazy thinking about it!

Wow that is fantastic news for you gingydilly. I seemed to have gained about a pound since surgery but am not too worried as I am sure it will move down again soon. Started walking again yesterday so that should see a change.

I had been walking about 3 miles a week for the last 6 weeks or so but just can't get motivated to get back to it since surgery. Hopefully I can do at least a mile this week. Today was my first day back at work so I am just taking it slow!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
