Questions:Insurance and stuff

Recommended Posts

Talk with your doctor. He may be able to help you with the supervised diet or write a letter to the insurance company as to why it is so important for you to lose weight. My insurance co changed it's policy last winter and I didn't need the diet, so maybe yours won't either. Call them and ask. What can it hurt?

I know exactly what you mean about your back. Mine was where I couldn't walk from my front door to my car in the driveway. The only shopping I could do was in stores where they have the electric carts. My left knee is so bad, I have to have it replaced. BUT I have lost almost 60 pounds since I've been banded and Though, the one knee is still really bad,. I can walk a lot further and even handle stores if I have a cart I can lean on. Also, because of my knees, exersizing is hard for me. I have an exersize bike and that is working great for me. It doesn't hurt the knee too much and the other one has improved greatly and it doesn't hurt my back. I try to pedal an hour in the morning and another hour at night. I am pedaling my way down to the Riviera Maya.

Thanks

I also have bad knees. In fact, I've been told my left one needs to be replaced. (10 more pounds) My back also aches bad. Can't walk far at all. First I thought that my knees were knocking it out of whack, but then figured that it just couldn't support my weight. I have an exersize bike in my living room and pedal at least two hours a day on it. I try for 40 miles. It doesn't hurt my back and my right knee is feeling a whole lot better. So, you see, there is at least one exersize you can do with a bum knee and a bad back.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
