Surgery Friday & I have a cold!!

Recommended Posts

Guys I'm freaking out a little, because I'm being banded on Friday & I have a slight head cold. I have yellow stuff coming out of my nose & a slight cough that brings up more yellow stuff(I'm so sorry to be so gross!), but all in all, I don't feel horrible, I feel pretty good! I've been on the liquid diet the past two weeks(leading up to Friday) & I'm trying to load up on Vitamins, but I'm so scared the surgery might get cancelled!

Should I be freaking out, or calm down & see how I feel the next day or so?

I am so nervous, I need all of your wisdom & reassurance.

What do you think everyone? Thanks so much for listening!!

Love to you all!

I would call your band surgeon and ask them. You may need to postpone (not cancel) it and get on some antibiotics. You don't want to be sick when you get your band! Having that gunk and recovering from an abdominal surgery would be miserable. Please take care of yourself.

That yellow stuff is a sign of infection. I don't think you want to have that in your bod when you're having surgery! Call your dr and what he says.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
