Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hello, I was banded November 7th. I have had one fill and my next one is Feb. 1st. Which seems like a long time to get a fill.

I understand my surgeon is booked up, I am going to call to see if he has any last minute cancellations.

Its going okay. I went from 215 to 207-208, I have lost inches more then pounds I think.

I have been working out atleast 3x a week and hope to bump it up to 4.

I am letting the slender me out,

Rose

Hiya Rose - welcome!

I agree that it does seem like a long time between fills. My doc is planning on about 4 weeks in between each fill (he anticipates 3-4 fills before finding the "sweet spot"). My first fill was 4 weeks after surgery, and my 2nd fill is scheduled for 4 weeks after that.

Are you hungry? Do you have much restriction? If you don't feel much restriction & are hungry, I would call your doc and see if you can get in sooner. Perhaps there is another doc in the practice that can do the fill? Maybe they have a nurse that can do it?

If you're not hungry, then don't worry about it. Some docs fill the band with a few CC's during surgery. You may have more restriction than those of us who had no CC's during surgery!

Hang in there, and keep checking back. We're all here to support eachother!

Judy

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
