Has anyone had Dr. David Kam as their Surgeon?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Dr. David Kam is joining the Office where I'm going to have my surgery at. They should have all of my paperwork and call and give me a consult and nutritionist appointment next Wednesday. I'm thinking that I'm going to request him since he is new there and I should be able to get the surgery done sooner. What have you thought of him? Were you happy with him and the Surgery he performed. I'm going to get the lap band since it's less evasive. I have a BMI of 40.8 and do not have any other health issues except for being overweight. I've read one post about him and it was good. Thank you for this help in this journey.

Blessings,

Brenda:)

Hi

I had a couple consultations with Dr. Kam and he was really nice. I liked him. Ended up in Mexico though since I couldn't wait for my insurance to cover it. (depression) I hear he is great with fills though. I tried to get in to have him do mine but since he was leaving, I had to find somewhere else to go. So, where did he go after he left Barix?

Karla, from my lap band support group, goes to Dr. Kam. She is getting a fill this month, hasn't had one since October because of his move. But he's in Traverse City now, doing lap band surgery and fills. She swears by him!

I had my original consultation with Dr. Kam (while he was in Ypsi). However, since I chose the lap-band, I ended up changing over to Dr. Schram. Dr. Schram has more experience and specializes in the band. Dr. Kam's biggest success and specialty is the bypass. I like them both. Both are wonderful physicians and both are very knowledgeable in their craft. However, since I had the band, Dr. Kam wasn't gonna be my choice. ONe of my close friends is a nurse who works side by side with both and Dr. Schram simply has a higher (nearly flawless) success rate with the band since he teaches it around the world.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
