Hello! I’m new here and 8 days post op from gastric sleeve and a hernia repair. My incisions don’t hurt but I am getting a sharp pain on the upper left side of my abdomen. I am just wondering if anyone else experienced this when they had surgery? I did contact my doctor but waiting to hear back from them so just wanted to see if this is part of the process. I just didn’t know if this is a symptom of a leak or infection or if it could be coming from stitches on the inside or if this is where they could’ve cut the stomach or fixed the hernia. Thanks to anyone who replies!

Congratulations on your surgery! The pain could be a pulled muscle (from the surgery) or some surgeons use an extra stitch to support your tummy (some scaffolding 😉) & that can pull with certain movements.

Hope your surgeon gets back quickly & it is nothing.

Could it be an anchor stitch that surgeons put in to keep everything in place? Hope the surgeon can get back to your before the weekend.

I had a bypass with a hernia repair, and the hernia repair hurt. Bad. (I was fleeping terrified of that first sneeze.) I am 24 days post-op, and the pain of the hernia repair has gone. That first two weeks though... I wish I had gotten more of a warning about how painful that would be.

And I still have a bit of pain in the upper left abdominal area. At my two week checkup the doctor wasn't concerned. Ice packs have been helping a lot! Every day the pain is a little bit less.

I'm 5 days out from surgery and I have no pain really at all I walk around most of the day, no breathing issues everything is great. I haven't needed pain meds. I'm struggling to meet the hydrating and Protein goals though but I'm getting at least 1/2 the goal. I'm just not finding anyone else feeling this good only a few days or so I'm hoping I'm not doing something wrong lol

@PrincessDes Boost Max & Premier Protein both have 30 g of Protein per serving. This has been my life saver and many iothers to assist meeting protein goals. One good thing is that it is also 11 oz which per my nutritionist it counts as my Fluid intake too.

Unjury has a lot of flavors to mix in with your liquids with 20g protein per scoop. My go to is the chicken flavor and the no flavor. The no flavor ones I used in Jello etc the chicken in Soups mix in with any ground meats when you get to that stage. A lot of creative ways.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
