Port Flipped

Recommended Posts

I didn't have any idea that mine was flipped. I can feel a hard spot where my port is but I think everyone can feel that.

My fill doctor said that a lot of surgeons only tack the port in one spot which makes it flip easily. he says he tacks it down on both sides so it can't flip. Don't know if this is true or not, but do you know how the port was stitched in originally?

I didn`t know where my port was until I went for my 1st fill. It should have been situated immediately in the centre under my breast but the dr couldn`t manipulate it back in place. Now I am waiting to have a fill by a Xray. Luckily I am under NHS and it won`t be costing me anything.

They found out mine was flipped 6 months post-op, but from the history of fills, it was flipped since the first month. I personally never felt anything sitting around.. however, when I did fills, he always pushed down on the port, and this was miserable. That hurt a LOT, and I thought it was normal. But now that my port is fixed, it does NOT hurt to push on it, so I assume it had to do with being flipped.

I just posted under complications that my port flipped. Tomorrow I am going to have it repositioned but its going to be done under local. Anyone have experience with having it done under a local?

Dr also said she could fill me then...which I am SO ready for (1st fill)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
