How's everyone doing so far? Today is full liquid day for me and I'm tolerating my shakes pretty well. I added Miralax to my shake this morning to make sure I dont get bound up from the Protein. So far so good, the restriction is real so baby steps, still having a hard time getting 64 oz of Water daily...... Other than that I found mio drops + caffeine and B12, my program allows small amounts of caffeine daily, so I've been putting 1 drop of mio into a medicine cup mixed with water and that really gets me going in the morning. Its crazy how such small amounts hit me now.

I'm only on day 3 at home and every day feels like every other. Got my 15 minute timer. Every time it goes off, I have one or two ounces of something. Reaching my goal of 64oz liquid 32oz of which is Water and 60g Protein. My doc doesn't have me on any Vitamins right now. She stopped them just before surgery. Never really had any gas pains, so thankful. Just ab soreness and pain getting up and down. No hunger at all so far, so sticking to this program is not hard, just monotonous and boring. Which I'll take over difficult and painful.

I agree, I crave nutrient's for energy but no desire for food at all ( its a weird feeling) and yes, the incision pain is awful, I have this one right by my belly button that stings like its being ripped apart any time I go to sit up or bend over to tie a shoe, the others are fine. But they say the incision they pull your stomach through will be the one that hurts the worst and takes the longest to heal.

Hi everyone!

Sounds like everyone is doing well :) YAY!

I has my VSG on the 21st as planned without complications. My 1 week post op appointment is on Wednesday.

Sometimes I sit here with my newish stomach and just wish I felt like I knew more of what I am supposed to be doing. All they say is sip, but no one says when to stop, and I don't feel full. I just go from drinking, to suddenly uncomfortable and overfull feeling. This is week 3 of only liquids for me. I am sick of all things that taste sweet, especially Protein Shakes. My brain keeps saying that if my pouch only holds 2 ounces then should I really be drinking as much as I am so quickly? The terror of possibly stretching my pouch already is steady in the back of my mind.

Also, head hunger, stomach growling, and anticipation are a constant!

Check in on my surgiversary people. How is everyone doing. Did post op appointment go well?

How is your diet going? I am on my soft Proteins only at 2oz quantities per meal. They want me to get 70 of Protein and at least 800 calories a day. I still drink 1 Protein Shake a day.

Sometimes I find myself wishing I could eat so much more than I can, but I can't find a logical reason why.

It has also sucked picking out a birthday cake for my daughter knowing that cake is now a memory for me.

I won't be back on a scale until Monday so I am looking forward to that.

So what's new with you guys?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
