I had my gastric bypass a week ago (may 16th) and Immediately after my surgery my vision started to get blurry, very blurry and still now. Anyone else with blurred vision?

Yes, was told it's due to the anesthesia, lack of vitamins. I'm 3 weeks post op and I still see blurry, hopefully after I start my pureed diet and start vitamins, etc later this week, things will change. If you're way out of surgery I would contact doctor.

I am experiencing the same thing but was told it does happen after you body is trying to heal and adjust to a lack of calories and fluid intake. It will get better I am confident

My worst issue is I have water nausea and can't stand to drink plain water without mix ins. I use to love water

I had it just after surgery but it went away by the next day.

I was under a major anesthesia cloud for a little over a week postop, including the blurry vision. It was difficult to keep my eyes open, even when I was not sleepy. After eight or nine days, the fog lifted, and my vision returned to baseline.

Dang, I am feeling a little blurry eyed! Nice to know it’s not just me!

Did they put a nausea patch behind your ear? That can cause some blurriness. It cleared up for me pretty quickly after I took it off.

Yea I had one and I had blurriness which cleared up about that time too now that you say it.

Squinting to write this...Yes I'm POD 4 and struggling mostly with near vision. Hoping it clears soon so I don't have to get a new prescription (that might then be too strong in a few months). I took off my scopolamine patch either yesterday or the day before so that should be getting out of my system.

Not drowsy at all, just can't see.

Yes, that patch was the cause of my blurry vision. It cleared within 12 hours of removing the patch.

I was scared after surgery when I asked my nurse when the blurry vision goes away. He said I wasn’t supposed to have blurry vision, so I thought I had had a stroke… The patch wasn’t in their system because I had put it on at home as my surgeon instructed. While the nurse went to talk with the charge nurse, I did my own research with my husband on his cell phone, and we figured it out ourselves. They really should coordinate better!

My blurry vision lasted until around day 6. Probably a whole combination of things including the patch, anesthesia, the hyosyamine for muscle spasms... but glad its back to normal.

The ingredients in the anti-nausea patch is the same stuff they use to dilate your eyes for glaucoma screening. If you touch the patch and then don't wash your hands and inadvertently touch your eyes, you will have blurred vision.
