16 days until surgery and I have covid

Recommended Posts

I’m trying not to complain, but I’m just a little downhearted. Just got diagnosed with covid and surgery in 16 days. I do have a question has anyone else had surgery after covid?? I’m guessing I should at least put it off a month maybe? I’m calling the doctor Monday to see what the surgeon thinks.

It really depends on how it's effecting you. Are your symptoms bad? Or are you asymptomatic? Quarantine is usually 10-14 days so if your surgery is 16 days away... as long as your symptoms aren't that bad or you're asymptomatic I don't see why you'd have to delay it. But yeah, definitely get the surgeons impute on what they think.

Talk with your team, because you'll be starting pre-op diet shortly. See if they're ok with that.

So finally got a call back from doctors office. They are saying at least 4-6 weeks after covid. I had the antibody infusion today. Anyone else with experience of how long to wait after? Makes me kinda nervous

I got covid a similar time frame before my surgery in October, I was 15 days out when I got my positive test. My surgeon ordered a 30 day reschedule based on their rules and the hospital rules. Unfortunately that put me in November when lots of hospitals were canceling surgeries so I am going through on Tuesday finally.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
