Red hard bump, cyst like below incision

Recommended Posts

I don’t have a medical background so I can’t tell you, but if something is hurting, warm to the touch and getting redder I would see a doctor about it ASAP! That’s some stuff my surgeon told me to immediately contact him about if I noticed it.
Do have to say I am located in Western Europe (socialised healthcare) so if you are located in the US I don’t know how quick doctors/patients contact each other about things. This does seem serious to me but I would always err on the side of caution…
Please take very good care of yourself and hope you feel better soon!

call your clinic. I'm not a medical person, either, but those are common symptoms of an infection.

I had a huge, larger than the size of an egg, under my largest incision. It stuck out really far when I laid down. I had it checked out, and the surgeon really pushed on it super hard and was trying to move it left, right, up, down for quite awhile and 😂 almost knocking me over. He didn't seem so concerned about it. All my incisions are barely visible now, including that one. It took a few weeks and now it is a small hard bump (half the size of my thumb), about 1/4 of the original size. Hope all goes well with your visit.

I have a large red bump below my incision. I have noticed it has been getting redder and bigger. It is warm to the touch and hurts really bad. It reminds me of a cyst. Should I be concerned or is this normal? 20210901_232146.jpg

My Dr said it was hematoma. It is looking a lot better and not hurting as much. Thanks for asking :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
