May Surgeries - check in!

  • Popular Post

Looking for other May 2021 folks to share the journey with! I'm scheduled for May 5th and start my liquid diet in just a few days. Anyone else on/around the same time? What kind of pre-op diet do you have? I admit I'm super nervous about how I'm going to manage the next couple of weeks and keep up my energy at work.

My gastric sleeve surgery was scheduled for May 14 and my doctor's office called today to tell me that the insurance declined the procedure. We are back to square one now... They are sending an appeal tomorrow. Hoping it will get approved sometime soon... Good luck to all May surgeries! :824_white_flower:

I’m so sorry to hear this. Hopefully the appeal will go through.

Thank you! Fingers (and toes ?) crossed! They told me I meet all requirements, but sometimes the insurance companies like to play games.

Wow! That’s amazing!

I had my surgery on May 6th in Mexico. I went to Go Lightly Baratric clinic and now I'm home (came home Sunday). Drinking enough.. oh ya.. def hard to do!

My surgery was 5/5; I am one week out so far; there is more pain than expected, but at least I am not hungry. It is pretty easy to follow the prescribed diet so far.

To me being on the preop diet was exciting. It meant that things were about to change. I personally feel that attitude is part of the process and taking a positive view of the whole thing is good for the journey. I don’t understand when people complain about it or don’t want to do it, I mean what do they think it’s going to be like ??‍♀️

I am one day post op. Starting to feel better tonight. Last night was rough.

I had my surgery on May 4. After 4 days the nausea subsided make sure you take the zofran and if the offer additional nausea meds while your stay in the hospital get them. They also gave a a patch that goes behind your ear that is good for 3 days for nausea. As for pain they did give me norcos but I don't like taking them. Fyi they do contribute to nausea so i just took extra strength tylenol for about 3 days after surgery. I do on occasion have incision pain but an ice pack works fine. As for preop diet they didn't put me on a full liquid diet. It was more of a high Protein low carb diet and it worked I did lose 10lbs in 1 week. If i can ill post diet as attachment. Well good luck to everyone and hope all have a speedy recovery.

I’m heading to the hospital soon, scheduled for 10:30 this morning. Definitely nervous and hoping everything goes well. See you all on the other side!

Hi everyone my surgery was 5/6. Ditto to the nausea for a couple days. Walk walk walk sure has made a big difference. Little short ones is all that is needed. I have no nausea now and my stitch areas are not a painful now just once spot. Doing okay on the water and so ready for the next phase of protein shake. I did not take any pain med either so I don't have that issue to deal with. Just Tylenol.
