Yeah, I went back to my hotel room an hour or two after. Next day I was on a plane headed home. I had VSG outpatient with Blossom Bariatrics

May Surgeries - check in!
To me being on the preop diet was exciting. It meant that things were about to change. I personally feel that attitude is part of the process and taking a positive view of the whole thing is good for the journey. I don’t understand when people complain about it or don’t want to do it, I mean what do they think it’s going to be like ??♀️

May Surgeries - check in!
Wow that’s great! Most place make you go liquid at least 48hrs before surgery but I have also heard it’s up to the surgeon

May Surgeries - check in!
I’m 4 days post-op and the journal really helps. I had outpatient surgery so I was home pretty quick. I still have a lot of thoughts about food etc so I pack it all into my messy pages lol

May Surgeries - check in!
I began keeping a journal as soon as I got my surgery date. It helped a lot. I didn’t use a food journal because preop diet was liquid protein and 4oz chicken with 1-2 cups of greens as my daily meal. It helped a lot to write down thoughts and frustrations

May Surgeries - check in!
I had my surgery yesterday. The gas pains were awful but after IV hydration and some pain meds I slept great and feel fantastic. It took me All day to consume an 8oz protein shake

Pre op liquid diet
My surgery is May 5. I have 7 days of liquid diet. I haven’t lost any weight but just started. I didn’t have to loose a certain amount before surgery as I am private pay and don’t have the insurance hoops to jump through. I am using premier protein clear

May 2021 VSG surgeries?
Sounds like you got this! I have heard so many stories about insurance pulling the approval just before surgery. My insurance states that it covers VSG but our employer specifically excludes it which never makes sense to me because they cover dieticians, obesity medications and diabetic supplies. It’s so backwards!

May 2021 VSG surgeries?
I’m not entirely certain I will care all that much about the loose skin. It depends on if it causes discomfort. Mostly I am just happy to have the opportunity to have a fresh start. I have been reading in Facebook groups all kinds of people wanting to know when they can eat junk food again. I just can’t imagine, I honestly hate food and what it has done to me. Zero interest in going back!

May 2021 VSG surgeries?
I’m not in the nervous phase yet. I had. C-section in 2009 but was awake for that. I am mostly freaked out by anesthesia. I don’t want a bad reaction. I am also dreading the inevitable loose skin. I have plans for a tummy tuck and possible a breast lift. Waiting for those things will be tough!
