I've had bi polar and PTSD for years. Does anyone else have these problems? Is there anything that I can take in place of time release Geoedone? I also take other time release medications where do I look for alternatives please let me know I'm very scared of a bi polar episode happening

I don't have bi-polar but I do have chronic major depression. My doctor and I talked about my meds and no changes were recommended for my anti-depressants. I was also referred to a hematologist to find out how the anticoagulant I take for a clotting disorder would be affected by my sugery. You should definitely talk to your primary doctor and any specialists who prescribe meds for you.

In my case, my hematologist recommended that I switch to a different anti-coagulant but my insurance would not cover it. And wouldn't you know it, I did get a clot (because my blood-thinner needed to be taken with a big meal). So it can be really important to thoroughly discuss your meds with any doc who prescribes meds for you. My situation with the clot was life-threatening, so don't skip this step. Now I take injectable Lovenox which is MUCH more expensive than the med my hematologist recommended. Plus they had to pay for my hospital stay when I got the clot.

Geodon was super hard on my tummy. My dr switched me to Wellbutrin XL. Latuda is also a good option if you’re far enough out and can eat 300 calories for a meal

I have been on geodon for years and it's the only bi polar drug I have been able to tolerate that actually worked. I'm allergic to many medications and laudable is one of those. I'm scared of myself if I'm not on them. BTW I'm already on Wellbutrin.

I'm on drugs for osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, sleep medications. I have PTSD and mood swings and severe nightmares. So I'm not sure if I'll qualify for this surgery. Anyone else have some or all of these things?

My consultation with the doctor is Jan. 4 2021. I'll let you all know then.

This group has helped me a lot. I appreciate all of the information and advice. I'm sure there are many people who feel this way.

Merry Christmas to all and I hope this doesn't offend anyone

Those conditions won’t stop you from qualifying. I have osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, depression, PTSD, insomnia, anxiety and PCOS and I still qualified. Mind you after surgery I couldn’t tolerate my fibro medicine Savella. Which sucks because I can’t take the other meds approved for fibro

I'm sorry to hear that you have DD. I used to get needle therapy and the was unbelievable. It did not do anything as far as relieve the pain. That is one of my reasons I am trying to get the surgery. Are you pre op or post op??

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
