What Are Your Favorite Things?

Recommended Posts

Each year Oprah does a show featuring her favorite things. It got me thinking of what my favorite things are pertaining to my lap-band, and weight loss. I'll list mine, and I would LOVE to hear what other's favorite things are! For example:

When I'm craving sweets at night, I love to have sugar free popsicles, especially the orange crush/rootbeer/diet dr. pepper flavored! They are 15 calories a piece, taste great and are very satisfying!

My favorite Protein Powder is called Body Fortress and I buy it at Wal-mart. I love the chocolate flavor. Each morning, I mix it with a cup of skim milk and ice, and it tastes like a chocolate milk shake to me! YUM!

During warm weather months, I walk every evening for 3-5 miles, but now that the weather is colder, I work out to my favorite work out video, Leslie Sansones Walk off the pounds! It's a 3 mile power walking video that you can do in a small space! It's low impatic, cardio plus strength training work out video, that's very easy to follow and works great!

One of my favorite low-carb, low calorie and very healthy foods I eat, is homemade wedding Soup. We make it at our restaurant with escarole, chicken, celery, onion, chicken stock, and little meatballs! I put a slice of provolone cheese on top and.....MMMM! Soooo good!

My favorite web-site is Lapbandtalk.com! I read it every day for information and inspiration! Just about anything you'd want to know about living with the lap-band, is right here!

So those are some of my favorite things pertaining to my lap-band and weight loss... what are yours?

I love the way it has changed my life.

I love how my husband looks at me now.

I love that I'm not MO any more - just O and I can't wait to be out of that category either!

I love feeling better overall.

I love that I can jog without feeling like I'm gonna die!!! OMG I haven't done that since I was a teenager.

I love this website and all of the wonderful people on it to uplift, support, and help keep us on track!!

These are a few of my favorite (weight loss) things:

1. My iPod Shuffle. I love, love, love to listen to music that makes me want to move my body. I actually make excuses to go to the gym just so I can put my headphones on and get lost in the music while I'm on the elliptical.

2. My Polar heart rate monitor. It's a basic unit, but it's really all I need to keep my heart rate in the training zone. I don't like to exercise without it.

3. My Spinning shoes. Spinning is my favorite exercise, and somehow just putting them on says "Athlete" to me.

4. Kashi Go Lean Crunch Cereal. I have it every single day for Breakfast, and absolutely crave it. 9g Protein, 8g Fiber per 1 c. serving for 190 delicious calories.

5. Breakstones 2% large curd cottage cheese. That's my favorite post-workout snack. It's creamy and delicious, and packs in 11g Protein in 90 calories.

6. Edamame. I love the frozen pods (which remind me of one of our southern staples, boiled peanuts), and the wasabe-flavored freeze dried ones.

7. My local lap band support group. We have an awesome bariatric coordinator, who does a wonderful job to get us inspired and motivated.

My favorite things:

My Kippy belt - I can wear it now that I've lost weight, I love it and it has so much bling bling to it.

My Cruel girl jeans - low rise hipster, I can wear them now that I have the Lap Band

I love the Elliptical machine, it has helped me lose weight, burns calories, and just makes me feel good when I'm on it.

My favorite quick meal on the run - Edamame Beans - soy Beans, just 1/2 cup contains 10 G Protein. Great snack and filling.

My favorite website - Of course LBT.com. I love journaling too, I keep my journal right here on the website.

My favorite body feature, my colar bones, its just been so long since I've seen them, now I can't quit feeling them. I love the fact that I have them, also my wrist are so tiny, people comment on how tiny they are all the time. I've NEVER in my life had anything on my entire body be called "tiny".

I love the fact that I weigh less than my husband, this is a big favorite of mine. I've never weighed less then him. I love the fact he can pick me up now and carry me. I feel like a real woman!

These are just a few of my favorites since the LapBand. I have many others.

My favorite things

I like that I feel like getting up every morning.

I love being able to work out on the elliptical faster than I used too.

I love it when my tight clothes get loose.

I love that my band doesn't let me eat when I am upset.

I love how it teaches me to get control of my actions.

I love it when my mom tells me that I am looking good.

I love how I have more energy.

I love my SFjello with cool whip free on top.

I love knowing that as long as I put in some effort this weight is coming off, and will continue to come off until I get to my goal.

I like feeling my bones in my body

I like having a neck.

I like that people can see my eyes better than they ever used too.

I love my life more everyday I have this band....

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
