Exactly when does hair loss stop?

Recommended Posts

For those veterans who experienced Hair loss, when did yours stop? I started losing hair at about 3 1/2 months post surgery. I'm now exactly 8 months out and I am still losing a TON of hair. I honestly have no idea how I have any left on my head. I keep hoping it will stop soon.

I think it was close to 6 months when I noticed a slowing in the amount of hair in my shower & about the house. It’s growing back nicely now - a few inches. I can really feel my old thickness returning. Woo hoo!

I didn't lose very much - but it went on for maybe three or four months (??)

My Hair loss started at 4 months and went on for another 4-5 months. From what I've read, the loss is from the dead hair getting pushed out by the new hair that is starting to regrow. My hair got quite thin but is now back to normal volume. BTW, I started mega doses of Biotin at 2 weeks post op, and it didn't help. Don't waste your money. :)

Thanks. I'm about 4 1/2 months into loss so hopefully it will slow.

I was able to cut it to a bob (about 6 inches) so it doesn't look as raggedy. AND the stylist asked if I'd been losing a lot so I guess there are baby hairs up there. Now what I have just needs to stop falling out, and those baby hairs need to grow faster :)

I'm 5 years out from surgery and I have to say the Hair loss was distressing. I lost at least 1/3 of my hair. After I reached goal it took about a year to have a full head of hair again. This is because I was no longer on a super low calorie diet. The good thing is that your hair really will grow back.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
