stay off the scale for the first week. But then, the Water from the IV fluids should have worked their way out of your system.

Your tissues and organs are still very swollen from the surgery will take several weeks to go down.

I never peed so much starting about 2 days after surgery. Couldn’t go at all right after surgery. Your body has to chill out a bit.

I’m post op day 3 now and have been looking for this kind of thread. I’ve actually gained weight since surgery on 3/3. When does the weight loss begin? I’ve been so worried.

it's from the IV at the hospital - you're full of salt Water. I've heard of people gaining 10 or more lbs from it. It takes a few days to work its way out of your system. I wouldn't step on the scale until you're at least a week out of surgery.

If it helps I weighed myself the day after I left the hospital (day four) and I'd gained 3 pounds. When I had my one week check-up three days later I was down 10 pounds from my surgery which means 13 pounds in three days. I think a lot of it had to do with the IV Fluid and the not being able to have a... um, well no delicate way to say this, a bowel movement, for the first few days. It DOES come off though so don't stress too much!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
