Has Anyone had surgery by Dr. Pysher or another surgeon at SCNV

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had surgery by Dr. Pysher or any of the surgeons at SCNV? What was you experience like? How was Reston Hospital. So far, I am having a really good experience and I would definitely recommend this practice. The office staff is wonderful and so supportive. They go way above and beyond, and Dr. Pysher honestly cares about you.

I had my surgery at Reston Hospital Center and was very happy with my care. They use a team approach so there were a lot of people looking after me, and they all were good and almost too attentive! Of course I can't comment on the hospital's food since all I was allowed was Water, diluted fruit juice and broth... 😁

My surgeon was different, it was Dr Fitzer of Virginia Bariatric Surgery. He and his staff also are wonderful. There seems to be no shortage of excellent bariatric surgeons in NoVa...it sounds like you will be in good hands!

Did you have a private room like Roz has in her video? I just need to know for my husband and if I need to book a hotel room for one day or three.

Yes, I was definitely in a room by myself. There wouldn't have been room in there for a second bed! There was a nice recliner chair that your husband can probably sleep in, if you want him there. I wouldn't let mine come--we live 5 hours away and someone had to stay home with the dogs. Besides, when I'm under the weather I HATE having people hanging over me. So I rode the train up, and then stayed in a motel for an additional night before taking the train home. Worked out great, thanks to Amtrak, Metro and Uber! Although I had to argue with the hospital about being released to an Uber to get to my motel, but when I threatened to walk instead, they relented...

I have 4 dogs. I was more worried about the dogs being home by themselves. I have a doggie door they can come and go. My dogs have food and Water 24 hours a day so there is no issue with them scarfing down food and I have a doggie door. I have 3 chihuahuas and a golden. My daughter also lives two blocks away, but I worry about her coming in the house when we are not there. My Golden might bite her, seriously, not hard, but a warning bite. She is not the brightest crayon in the box. The Chihuahuas love my daughter so there is no issue with them. My doc put my mind at ease and told me if my surgery is in the AM, I will most likely be discharged the next day, so that would only be two nights away from home. My husband will be staying with me. I was thinking of booking the hotel for him for a second night so he can go back and get some rest. I am pretty sure that is what I am going to do.

I had my surgery on March 19th. That evening the nurse came in and said no visitors after 5 Pm due to the Virus the hospital had updated their policy. I was lucky I had gotten the hotel room for 4 days instead of just the two days. My husband was able to go back to the hotel and spend some quality time with my daughter. Reston Hospital was wonderful. The whole staff was great!!!! Dr. Pysher was awesome. She visited me several times in my room and she called several times also. When I was discharged, she gave me her cell phone number and she called every day for the first few days after discharge. I had a great experience and no pain, a little discomfort. They gave me a block and then controlled the pain with tylenol. I would highly recommend Reston Hospital and Dr. Pysher.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
