Sleeved January 9th -how are you all doing on foods?

Recommended Posts

I was January 6th, and still only liquids until the 20th. I actually haven't been able to get much of anything Protein wise down. I'm barely hitting 6-10 protein a day... I'm hoping once I start eating food, it'll be easier. I'm just tired of the shakes and my body is, too.

(I already talked to my doctor- I'm still trying every day, I just can't keep it down... probably just too sweet, honestly, and I'm sick and tired of it lol)

January 8 was my surgery, and I'm also still on liquids until the 23rd. No nausea or anything so I'm happy about that, just super ready to be able to eat something of substance (can't wait to have an egg for some reason)

This week everything I've noticed the same thing on TV, food, food, food, food and more darn food. I just come to this site and browse around until I go to sleep lately.

I'm glad it worked for you, just be careful introducing foods too quickly. Your stomach is still healing and there's a reason for the liquid and soft food stages.

What do you mean 6-10g a day?

One shake is usually 30g I get 3 shakes a day most days.

If you can't do shakes you should get protein water.. Protein is so so important to help your body heal inside and out...

If too sweet add more Water to shake

I mean I can only get down about 1/6th of it before I can't physically swallow more, or I end up drinking half of it and throwing up a good portion of it.

Protein Water won't work for me because it's whey.

My doctor is aware of it; I'll just heal a bit more slowly. I'm doing everything I can right now. My normal shake is 20g, and my body cannot handle the taste of it. We even tried Bone Broth Soups with protein in it, but my body says no.

I tried a bit of Decaf coffee today and it was heaven. I also had a Greek yogurt this am and a teeny bit of unsweetened oatmeal less than 1/4 c dry. Everything went down fine. My one week post op is tomorrow. 🥳

How is the puree stage treating you?? It's so odd the different diets each surgeon suggests... I assume they had you on one week of liquids, how long do you have to do the puree phase? I know each surgeon is different, so not judging!! Just curious! Take care!

Yay, my doctor is letting me go three days early to the soft foods stage.

He and I both think my body was just rejecting the liquid diet after so long of being on it. Apparently, it happens occasionally?

I had half a scrambled egg today and it was so so so scrumptious. ❤️

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
