Good for you. I've never smoked, but I think it would be doubly hard for a smoker to prepare for weight loss surgery. You're fighting two things at once.

Great news! I knew you would pass it.

I quit for 5 years once. I had to also stop drinking coffee and alcohol because they were triggers. After five years I went out and had a few social drinks. That was it. I started smoking again. It is a life long battle to kick that addiction.

I did quit again 10 years ago with vaping. Now I still vape but with zero nicotine.

Thank you....I think I can do this. I am in the right mindset. Especially now that I have a date as well. It feels good. It does feel good this time

after two long (a year or more) quits and then starting again, I learned I was a permanent addict and could never ever smoke again. I quit for the last time 25 years ago. I refuse even one puff because I know if I cave, I'll be smoking full-time again within a matter of days. Twenty-five years later, I still dream that I'm smoking (!)

Well I've read some that there doctors don't care but most do. You heal better when not a smoker. I needed to quit anyway. It's a very good thing to do. Don't smoke. Lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
