Hey!

I’ve done my six nutrition sessions and am meeting with my surgeon in a week. I was wondering what everyone’s timeline looked like after you finished your nutrition visits. (ex: 2 weeks for insurance approval, 4 weeks until surgery date). I’m trying to plan my time off and don’t know when I should start requesting time off. Thanks in advance! ❤️

2 days for insurance approval and about 2 weeks until surgery date

My surgery is set for Dec. 30th, I called my insurance and they sent my Job protected leave paperwork 9/10/19. Also known as FMLA. They told me if my surgery date change then they will accommodate that change. I requested 2 weeks, not thinking I need all those days since I work remotely, but wanted to make sure I'm drinking ok. I had lap band removal July 12th and have been seeing my Dct since May to request for Roux En Y. When I went back for post OP visit he asked me if I was ready and I requested before end of year due to my out of pocket expenses have all been paid. He was and is so great he has me scheduled for Dec 30th hoping nothing changes other than a sooner date.

To add to what I stated before, the doctors office will not fill out paperwork she said until closer to surgery date and said she would hold on to it until then.

My insurance approval for revision took less than 24 hours with my surgery scheduled exactly a month out. 😃 My surgeon's practice has a pretty extensive list of things we have to do after approval, but before surgery, so I don't think it's often they schedule earlier than a month out.

It is hard to guess when your surgery will be, so I wouldn't request time off until you have an exact date. However, if you are going to do FMLA like the previous poster, I'd get started on that!

Good luck!

My insurance approval took about a week and I had surgery two weeks later, so total of 3 weeks from the time that all the paperwork was received by my surgeons office. I had a really tight timeline because of finishing school and starting orientation for a new job but it all worked out. I was in the hospital for 2 nights.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
