I'm not hungry... I want food.

Recommended Posts

I'm over 8 1/2 years out from my Gastric Bypass. lost over 100 lbs and have kept it off. Along with the handfuls of medications I use to take daily.
I'm rarely hungry now. food smells and tastes good. The trick is to share meals... buy meals you can save and nuke later. Eat small amounts and STOP eating once your fill the least bit full.
Find what works for you and keep to that regimen.

Once we can get past that head hunger... then we realize we are not really hungry at all.

I felt the same way. I was used to eating tons of veggies from my garden and I was not allowed any veggies until week 8. That as a killer. So I made my own clear liquid from my garden greens. I blended them up and then strained the juice and then filtered it through a coffee filter. I added this juice to my water bottle and broth. At first my doc was not happy, but when I showed her that she could see through it, so it was clear, she was OK with it. Told her it was better than artificially flavored or sweetened drinks. Anyway, it made me feel better psychologically and also physically, I believe.

You could do the same with greens, cabbage, broccoli, but NOT with carby veggies like carrots or sweet potato.

Thank you. Very good advice.

You are not hungry you are hungry mentally! - I never had this problem but my brother had it big time, I think my solution was to buy a puppy and go walk and move around. I also to this day play games to see how long i can go with no solid food - Record is 9 days

I actually feel really hungry at times. I’m 8 days post op and I can’t stop thinking about food. 😣

I am 8 months out and I feel deprived sometimes too. I watch videos of food blogs on youtube and snapchat. It helps me, however, it could make it works for someone. I did that in the beginning too.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
