The shift of emotions is real

Recommended Posts

My surgeon warned me that I could feel a little depressed after surgery . Well... I’m not feeling necessarily depressed but so frustrated with everyone around me. My patience is at an all time low. I rarely fight with those at home. Typically glass 1/2 full type of girl. My grandchildren moved out 1 year ago so it’s just the 4 adults left here at home. I’m the one who has for the last 10 years been the “mommy” to all of us. I run the day to day “operations “, do all the cooking shopping etc. I’m the matriarch of my family . In general I do feel frustrated with the others on a regular but yesterday I kind of blew up... 1st yelling at them.... then crying. Holy moley !!! THATS NOT TYPICAL. Honestly I was a little justified because I wasn’t getting some of the help I needed but my delivery was definitely out of character!
So yes.... we can have have some emotional upheavals . The temporary hormone changes are real!!
On a positive.... today I’m one week out from sleeve & down 9 lbs. I’m getting better every day at taking all my meds. For a few days that was rough. I’m getting in my Protein & my fluids.
Thank you all for listening!!! 👍👍👍

Ha!! Forgot about the “hangy “ part of this. Since I’m home watching more tv than normal I can not even believe all the food ads! I was craving a pork sausage for 2 days. Now I want a meatball with cheese on it! CANT WAIT TO BE DONE WITH liquids & on to puréed foods! Please oh please!!!! 😂🤣😂

To this day, I mute commercials and close my eyes! :)

Omg Chiptress I can so relate!!! I noticed very suddenly on Saturday that my frustration tolerance was EXTREMELY low!! My family and I were at a resort and they could not do anything fast enough or right!! I was [emoji35][emoji35][emoji35] the entire time and eventually culminated in me asking all of them to leave the room so I can take a nap! They were already going to the pool area for some scheduled activities but I sped them out!! I stayed alone in the room and wondered why i did and said what i did[emoji53][emoji53].
The change in the mood was so rapid and drastic! I'd gone from zen, I'm feeling great about surgery, life, my purpose, my family to MONSTER in less than 3 hrs!!!!
Full disclosure: I also started my period same day and while that is it's own animal, it was never this bad.

Anyway, sat in the room for 30 mins and then eventually dressed up to go join them.
P.S. I still made my middle sensitive child cry on our way home by an unusual caustic statement. My husband gave me a look then.
Wow!!!! I'll be as mindful as I can moving forward! I miss my zen....I hope it returns [emoji53]

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
