7 months post OP and feel like I can eat so much more.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I'm a sleeve patient and I am down 100 lbs since February. Now I'm at a really bad stall and feel like I can eat so much more than I could a few months ago. Do you guys have any advice? I've been so tired and so unmotivated and I don't know what to do.

((hugs)) You are right on time for the "Sophomore Slump". Come join us in the Sophomores thread! Honestly, it's a tough time. And your tool is maturing allowing less restriction. It's part of why it's so important not to believe the myth of restriction/malabsorption. At some point, everything in moderation will have a different meaning volumetrically and that could be enough to either derail losses entirely, cause stalls, or rebound weight gain. :(

The things that helped me:

1. Planning, weighing, measuring and logging my food daily--good and bad

2. Following my surgeon's basic guidelines for the forever-diet including the 1cup max per meal; 3 meals + 1-2 VERY small Snacks a day if necessary, Protein first then veg then fruit and a tiny bit of fat.

3. Mixing things up to make them fun again--I added IF/EF to my plan.

4. Find fun peeps to hang out with who have shared goals/paths.

Hope that helps!

Omg, I know the feeling! I had surgery in February as well and can eat so much more. I can't overeat at one meal, but could graze. I'm on my way to my 6 month post-op in 5 minutes a d plan to be honest with my PA about the situation. I've lost 75 pounds and am so worried she might be disappointed in the loss. I will let you know. Best wishes!🥵

I *can* eat a lot more now - but I stick to timed meals (i.e. scheduled times I will eat throughout the day) and I portion everything out that isn't already pre-portioned. I eat straight out of the measuring cup sometimes. Yes, I am occasionally still hungry between those meals, but that routine is key to my long-term success. I try to make everything I eat a high Protein item so it staves off any hunger and, again, portion it out before sitting down to eat so I don't overeat.

Thank you so much for posting this forever diet. I had my one month follow up visit today and was given a similar diet. I am a measurer and needed to have an amount to help me. My more significant struggle right now is my silly allergy to exercise. I have a genuine hate/love relationship with the gym — one day at a time.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
