What can I do for constipation. I'm miserable!!!! Please help!!

(Nurse here, have cared for many post op patients with constipation)
-make sure you’re getting enough water. Most meds to relieve constipation need water to help them work.
-walk, walk, walk
-strong coffee if you can drink it
If the above doesn’t work, you can try the following meds
-Miralax
-Milk of Magnesia
-Dulcolax
-senna
-glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories

Just to add to the above:

Metamucil or Benefibre are great

Walking really does help to get things moving as stated above and I use MOM or Miralax when needed. Lots of water will help also.

I've taken a capful of Miralax every morning since shortly after I had surgery. I still get backed up maybe twice a month - when I do, I take Milk of Magnesia for a night or two to clear it out.

I put a cap full of miralax in my coffee every morning. Works.
