Holy pistachios Batman!!!

Recommended Posts

Okay, I had a small bag of pistachios and was super hungry so I ate a few. They tasted AH-MAZING!! So I ate some more and basically I’m addicted to them at the moment. Didn’t see anything saying I can or cannot have them (7 weeks post-op). Anyone have any ideas if these are okay or if I’m going to end up in the ER for eating these delicious green devils? :)

OMG I love pistachios 😋. I was allowed 1-2 Tbsp of almonds, peanuts or cashews on week 5. My plan doesn't mention pistachios. Just be careful because they have a lot of calories.

You should be able to eat them that far out but be very careful with portion size, all nuts are very energy intensive

Also like the fact that I am forced to tame a break between nuts because of having to shell them so I can’t eat them super fast. Yay!

So my opinion is that you appear FAR too pleased to have them in your life. That is a huge red flag for me when I see myself and others do this. Cuz 9 times out of 10 it represents a behavior that announces the presence of a red flag food. Like, if they live in your house somewhere, you will choose to eat them preferentially over other food choices...and that you are receiving a high reward/lizard brain opiod hit from them--which reinforces a relationship and/or behavior.

And that means at some point? You will begin eating them with abandon and that they could stall or stop your losses.

Of course I could be full of crap. I'm sure it's that. I have proof that I'm 9/10ths crap. :D

yum yum !!! umm ummm good - hail, hail to pistachios!!😋

buttttt, they are dangerous for me!! got it under control though.

bought a bag couple of weeks ago - put a good portion in small baggies.

grab them from the pantry that way. otherwise, i might have

prob stopping. but i'm good with one bag - not tempted to take

another bag.

btw - don't worry about the ER, as with everything moderation is key

good luck

I love them so much that I also put them in individual bags lol. It's definitely a great idea. [emoji3]

I appreciate nuts and I believe we were allowed to start introducing them around 5-6 weeks post op they were one of the last foods

I will say however that I can not eat Pistachios anymore. I used to love them, but they are the one and only food I have dumped on

It is confusing to a lot of people why I would dump on pistachios of all things but they triggered something in me that was very very VERY bad, so anyone seeing them remember just because a food is delicious, and fits in your doctors limits, and it went down fine before. Try to remember to take it slow the first time to see how your new body handles it because it made me very very sick (to the point that the sounds I was making were compared to a wildcat trapped in my throat as I dry heaved)

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
