  1. Hey, I can feel ya. I went to my appointment today to have my first consult with the bariatric surgeon, ands I too was denied. After all the research I have done and gone through the bariatric seminar bcuz I had to have the seminar b4 seeing the surgeon. But bcuz my BMI is not high enough or the fact that I am not a full blown diabetic, I got denied. He offered me t he ballon which is a temporar solution for 6 months, but after 6 months it has to be removed & there is a chance of me gaining my weight back. WTF! I don't wanna gain my weight back, I wanna lose it for sake . I have no willpower to lose it on my own bcuz if there is ice cream or cookies around ( as my husbands snacks on them) it will entice me to eat it as well when I want something sweet even if there is fruit around.
  2. The tongue scapper is a great idea, but the stomach acids are causing the bad breath. Just keep on the dental hygeine and try the Threa Breath 12 hour stuff
  3. Best of luck to you, sweetie! Keep me up to date on things.
  4. It is, I am 171.2 with BMI of 31.31
  5. I am at the lower end as well as far as BMI is concerned. Outside of that....what makes me a candidatte is the fact that I have f2 NASH, PRE DIABETES, High blood cholesterol, hypertention even with meds, and have obstructive sleep apnea & 12712.8 lbs. at 5'2.
  6. Is you deductible paid up on your Aetna? I am with Aetna, but through my husbands insurance with Erlanger here in Chattanooga. By having the deducible paid up helps you get to the front of the line I would think.
  7. Me too, I am still taking notes. My first consult with the surgeon is in the morning.
  8. I have a question for ya'll! Has anyone done there stock up on drink mixes, powder shakes, ready to drink shakes and vitamins before their first visit with the surgeon before a date was even set. I hate procrastination, and I like to be prepared.
  9. Wow girl! You look great! Your before pic looks like what I look like now at 171.8 at 5'2 with a BMI of 31.31. My goal weigh is 143.
  10. Good 4 U CJ, hope everything goes well.
  11. Both my gastroenterologist & PCP have referred me. My deductable on my insurance has been met.
  12. My BMI is 31q.31. BUT.....I have stage f2 NASH (NON-ALCOLOIC STETOHEPATITIS), Pre diabetic with insulin resistance, high blood pressure with high blood cholesterol, and benign cyst on pancreatic tail . I was told for me that even though I am not severely obese for my 5'2 height, but all my other contributors make a candidate for surgery. This is alot less expensive than a liver transplant and alot less time consuming in even waiting on a liver & I too have obstructive sleep apnea.
  13. I have a question: First of all, I am 3 days away from my first consult with the surgeon. My question to anyone is,,,,,,,,what did ya'll do in preparation for you first consult as far as your diet? I just got back from Florida yesterday at my starting weight of 168. I checked my weight this morning & it was 171.8. I did EVERYTHING that I THOUGHT WAS RIGHT. I had my broiled proteins (chicken, tuna), my carbs were sweet potatoes WITHOUT butter, i drank only water, and green tea & my sugar was 1 packet of stevia. While a day at the beach only consisted of bottled water & fruits with lots of water content to help with not getting dehydrated. Had my share of 2 mile walks on the beach as well. What in the crap did I do wrong?
  14. THX, Linda! I appreciate that. Heading back to Chattanooga today.
  15. Yes, I too am anxious, and nervous at the same time. I hope that when I go to my surgeon next week that I get a surgery date real soon.
  16. Jen, keep me up to date with your favorite recipes out of the cookbook. I plan on getting the hard copy, too.
  17. My first day here , I get blistered, but 2 says after that I slather on 50 spf to keep a tan. I am not burning or complaining of burning, bur I keep myself hydrated the whole time.
  18. I cleaned out some old clothes a month ago. I kept a few things back that I USED to not be able to wear due to the fact that I had gained so much weight. I hung them up in the back of the closet to be able to " back into them"
  19. How about going to Amazon ? They have Bariatric cookbooks.
  20. Down here in Clearwater,Florida enjoying my last hooorah until my surgery date? Caught a baby gator when fishing off the hotel dock, but the moment I think I saw that I was wearing Tennessee Orange.....it broke loose. LOLOLOL
  21. Lizzie, do you mind if I ask you a question or two? Where is it that you are having yours done at, & what procedure & insurance?
  22. All of my endoscopies, coloniscopues, heart caths, and bloodwork are recent from this month all the way back to Decembfer 11th, 2018.
  23. That's what I am waiting on ( insurance clearance, eventhough I have met my deductible). As far as tbe prequesits.... I am in the clear for the 3-6 mo. before, 30 days before. Because I do not smoke, drink, do hormones or diet pills. So as far as things go I am at the 7 weeks before & I have nor met with my surgeon yet.
  24. You go, buddy! Good luck & sorry for your famy loss.
