I had RNY a week and 2 days ago. I’m so thirsty ALL THE TIME. I know I’m not dehydrated because I hardly ever stop drinking. I’m not currently taking any Vitamins. Could I be deficient? My dr. never mentioned anything about vitamins after surgery.

Omg you need bariatric Vitamins immediately. Order from Celebrate. Your management should have given you a book with Vitamin requirements, the different eating stages and etc.

I do have a book. It outlines the diets but not Vitamins. I know I need them. But I don’t know what.

Good luck!

The Celebrate bariatric Vitamins have all the necessities l. 500 units of B12, 3000 units of Vitamin D3 and etc. You also need 1500 mg a day of Calcium carbonate or citrate a day. Take 1 tablet after each meal and take the vitamins 2x a day. You can get that all from celebrate. You probably want the bariatric vitamins with Iron. As I am post menopausal I didn't need the iron.

Call your nutritionist. They should have given you a sheet telling you which Vitamins to take. You definitely need them. Mine has me taking a soft chew Multivitamin, B12, Vitamin D, and Calcium. Glad you're staying hydrated.

Yes, please get your Vitamins & supplements ASAP!!! This is one of the things they always stress! You do not want complications due to insufficiencies! Your body needs this.

Don’t panic about the Vitamins. You won’t die if you don’t start them for a few days. But you should call your doctors office to speak to someone about what they want you to take. Whatever you get, I don’t recommend starting with something you swallow- I’d suggest a chewable for a month or two at least. There are so many brands and price points and you may just need to try a few until you find what works best. But no need to panic or think you will be sick from not having them for a few days.

I am always thirsty also- even right after surgery I drank a lot. Could be affects of the anesthesia giving you a bit of extra thirst as well. Good luck on your journey.

This is one of the reasons I am glad to be here...my first reaction was a bit of panic, because it was grilled into us to start taking the Vitamins & supplements after discharged home. Everyone helps keep things in perspective...

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
