Puréed stage questions

What are some foods that are able to be eaten(not the common ones like Jello pudding baby food) I found this list and didn’t know how accurate it was for the meats.. The ones it says you just have to smash with a fork mainly.

Did your surgeon give you a specific list of purees you should eat? I have 2 stages of purees, bland purees for one week, then advanced purees for another week. Cream if Rice didn't sit well with me. I pureed refried Beans with a little broth. Delicious. I can also eat ricotta cheese, plain Greek yogurt. Soon I'll add hummus, cottage cheese, and pureed boiled egg.

My plan had puréed stage and a soft foods stage. A lot of things on this list I wasn’t able to have until the soft foods stage . Can you contact your surgeons office? Your nut should be able to at least email you a list of acceptable foods for your stage

That looks like the list I got from my doctor, but no red meat on mine. And I'm allowed Beans, lentils and tofu pureed.

He only gave me sample meals didn’t give me a list of food that can be eaten. So I’ve been sticking to what’s on the sample menus. But he should be in today I’m going to call and ask thank you 😊

You should be able to tolerate those Protein sources, e.g. Beans, pureed. Your body will regurgitate what you shouldn’t have 90% of the time anyway but the safest bet to avoid any leaks is as similar to the diet provided as possible, if you choose other items not on the list.

I just tried cod and started feeling really sick went to the restroom and got sick(small amounts) 3 times and the last time there was a pain in my tummy and a weird burning sensation. I haven’t gotten sick since the surgery and didn’t know if that feeling was normal or if there’s a chance if a leak.

I just haven’t gotten sick in YEARS. So I honestly don’t even remember if that’s a normal feeling for someone who hasn’t had the surgery let alone being just a couple days short of three weeks post op. Just kinda worried me since the weird burning and pain sensation. It still burns almost like acid reflux but lower in my stomach instead of being in my chest.

I can tell you what I eat. I am 3 weeks out in soft foods stage one.

Breakfast: 42grams oikos triple zero and 15 grams of unflavored Protein Powder

Mid morning: Protein Shake boosted with Protein powder so around 50 grams

Lunch: I made lentil Soup and boosted it with high protein tofu. I pureed it in my high-speed blender - so similar to refried Beans in texture

Dinner: low sodium deli turkey with a tsp of low fat mayo a little lemon juice and a teeny bit of basil. I chop the heck out of it and since this is my most textured meal it takes about 30 - 35 minutes to eat.

I have another week of this stage then I switch to more complex soft foods...then in a few more weeks off the toddler train hopefully.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
